Emoticons which we use on daily basis have become an important part of our lives. We chat, but since we are not physically present with the person sitting at the other end, we tend to signify our feelings with the help of emoticons.

1. Sometimes, I am not laughing but I laugh. It appears that I am.
2. Sometimes I am not feeling sad, but I portray myself like that.
3. Sometimes I am not crying, but it appears that I am.
this list is never ending.
4. It happens to be someone’s birthday and I show myself so joyful.
5. Sometimes I am bland, but I am blushing.

We are turning pro in faking our emotions. We laugh with our real face bland.
The recent pandemic of COVID-19 has aggravated this behavior of ours.

It had been months, we were at our own places. We used to talk lesser over phone calls and chat less on texts. No one forced you to chat like that, it was your choice.

The possible reasons of faking our emotions can be
1. We are losing the sense of belongingness to each other. And thus in a way losing the faithfulness. Human is a social animal. The activities we perform, always reflect sooner or later but they do. I am not talking here about it being right or wrong, I am just showing the scenario.
2. May be we are not doing much productive things in life, or
3. May be, we are doing productive things but we are doing stuff in no unique way than others. So the sense of comparison has initiated all this. I will talk about this point later in detail, or,
4. May be, we have developed a skill of betraying, or,
5. May be we cannot find the minimum emotional support required for a healthy survival ( healthy mental state ). And we expect true concern against fake feeling.

How it is affecting you :
1. When we pretend, we lose a bit of ourselves.
2. We change bit by bit and become an undesirable human being.
3. We do not recognize this small day to day change and the final result is despair and frustration.
4. As said earlier, human is a social animal, social health matters and you are yourself deteriorating it.

Ways to get rid of faking:
1. See, first of all the person you are communicating with is 99% percent times a known person (unless you are working at a customer support). So, this means that she/he knows the kind of person you are. So, start with them. Start chatting without sending emoticons. Try and make possible to use none and just express your feelings in the text.
2. No one is forcing you to talk or chat. If you do not feel like communicating, just skip or ignore. You don’t need to clarify that it is not like you are ignorant or something, it is just that you don’t want to talk. It is not important to reply. The one thing which is important is that you are a person and you have the right to remain happy and not keep everyone happy (there is a fine line of difference between being rude to someone and being unresponsive). So first stabilize yourself, your mind should be in your control. Control your mind to not be impulsive to act. Control your mind to be impulsive to resist.
3. If you do not like certain things about your acquaintances and feel that it is not good for them as well, then have the courage to tell them directly. This might be a temporary loss of relationships, but for a long term, they will understand that you are a person of rules. Be yourself.
4. Analyze your situation because every situation cannot be generalized. It is you who will be taking decisions for your life and these small decisions are life changing decisions.
